June - one of my favourite months. Sunshine, strawberries and Wimbledon on the telly. What's not to like?
But this summer in Sheffield, we're hoping tennis can be a bit more than a spectator sport.
There's a new programme of low-cost coaching aimed at both beginners and those looking to get back into playing tennis. Sessions are being held at High Hazels, Hillsborough, Concord, Graves, Weston and Millhouses Parks, providing for local communities across the city.
And when the Head of the LTA, Michael Downey comes to Sheffield, racket in hand, you know that support for tennis at a grass roots level far away from the green turf of Wimbledon really is important.
Watching tennis will always be an important feature of June, but perhaps playing in your local park can become a feature in your calendar too.
